A pedestrian standing on a Melbourne CBD footpath has been seriously injured and taken to hospital after a woman fell from a building above and died.
The man, believed to be in his 30s, was standing next to a building on William Street, near the city’s court district, just before midday on Monday, when the woman fell from a height and landed on top of him.
Emergency services were called, but the woman, who is yet to be identified, died at the scene.
The man suffered serious injuries to his upper body and was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
The woman’s death is not being treated as suspicious, police said. They will prepare a report for the coroner.
