Local trainer Noel Mayfield-Smith is hoping to have a lucrative day at Sunday’s Coffs Harbour meeting with four runners stepping out for the stable on the six-race card.
The Group 1-winning horseman will start his day in the second event of the day when Ausbred Yahoo contests the Komatsu Country Boosted Benchmark 58 Handicap (1605m) with two-kilogram claiming apprentice Ella Drew taking the ride.

Ausbred Yahoo has been racing in good form with a third placing at Kempsey three starts ago being followed by two successive seconds at Coffs Harbour, the latest when beaten by Sunday’s rival Caledonian.
Mayfield-Smith links with another apprentice, three-kilogram claimer Leanne Boyd, when Never Island starts in the Insurance Advisernet Australia Pink Silks F&M Benchmark 58 Handicap (1305m).
A winner of three of her 15 starts, Never Island will carry 59.5 kilograms after Boyd’s allowance. Never Island was beaten less than a length when second behind Montgomery at Grafton and backed that up with a last-start fifth at Coffs Harbour behind In The Fine Print when again beaten less than a length.

Raymond Spokes takes the ride on the Mayfield-Smith-prepared Monte Cruise in the O’Brien Plumbing Relining Wayne Glenn Pink Silks Cup Benchmark 82 Handicap (1205m).
Monte Cruise is also a three-time winner from just the nine starts. She hasn’t raced since July when finishing last of eight at Eagle Farm and has had two trials at this track in preparation for her return, finishing second behind Saturday’s Wyong winner Petticoat before winning the latest of them.
Mayfield-Smith rounds out the day when he again links with Boyd when she rides Cardsharp in the Key Community Group C,G&E Benchmark 58 Handicap (1305m).
Cardsharp has had two starts since resuming from a spell and followed a first-up fourth at Lismore with a last-start win at Coffs Harbour when running home well to score with Spokes in the saddle.
Cardsharp has an awkward barrier to contend with but invariably races well at his home track, with two wins and three placings to his name there from nine attempts.
