Local trainer Paul Snowden is hoping to strike at Port Macquarie on Sunday when starting three runners including two leading contenders in the shape of Polymer and Ghost Walker.

Snowden, who has 25 horses on his books, picked up both Polymer and Ghost Walker from other stables, and is confident they can acquit themselves well in their respective events.

Polymer will contest the Chris Hudson Electrical Showcase Class 1 Handicap (1210m) with Ben Looker taking the ride. The former Godolphin galloper has had two starts since joining Snowden for a narrow second at Port Macquarie before winning at his home track last time out.

“He’s a promising horse that is heading in the right direction,” said Snowden.

“He came to me in good order and then he had a nice trial before having his first start for me at Port Macquarie and just being edged out by another handy horse.

“He ran right up to that when he came out for his latest start and won in easy fashion.

“He’s done everything right since then. He’s a go forward horse that is drawn well and he gets his chance to run very well again.”

Snowden will start the former Danielle Seib-trained Ghost Walker in the Wauchope RSL Club Wauchope Cup (1512m) with Looker in the saddle.

“He is a well-performed horse that also came to be in very good order,” Snowden said.

“I’ve given him a trial since he arrived up with me, and he performed well in that. He was in form with a win and a second at Wagga back in April and it’s important to note that he drops massively in weight on what he had been carrying down south.

“He’s drawn well and has tactical speed, so everything is pointing towards a forward showing from him.”

Snowden rounds out the day when Looker partners High Voltage in the Inland 4WD & Tractors Showcase Class 2 Handicap (1512m).

“She’s drawn a bad barrier, but she’s an adaptable type that can be thereabouts if she has any luck go her way,” Snowden said.
