A man with bikie links has been found dead in a Tarneit park after being violently abducted from a home in Melbourne’s north overnight.
A number of men broke into a property on Darius Terrace in South Morang about 3am Friday, armed with machetes, and assaulted the sleeping 30-year-old victim. He was then dragged out of the home and into a dark-coloured car.
Two children and another man were inside the South Morang home at the time of the attack but were not physically injured.
At 4.30am the man’s body was found in a park off Bruny Drive in Tarneit, about an hour’s drive. No arrests have been made.
A source with knowledge of the police inquiry, speaking anonymously as it is ongoing, said the man was related to a member of an outlaw motorcycle gang.
Police said a post-mortem would be conducted to determine the man’s cause of death and that he had not been formally identified.
“A crime scene has been established, and the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident remains ongoing,” a police spokesperson said.
The park in Tarneit, in the heart of a residential area, was taped off by police early on Friday morning. Officers holding binders were seen speaking with residents while others inspected the scene.
