Helen Goyen and her husband, Stuart, both registered breeders of golden retrievers, have put their Mosman mansion on the market with a price guide of $35 million, local sources have revealed.

It’s understood the couple, who are known for producing show dogs, are downsizing, and records show they bought the six-bedroom, four-bathroom home for $2.6 million in 1995.

The Mosman mansion has an asking price of $35 million.

The three-level property on 2668 square metres was built around 1903 by renowned builder Sydney Holland Cabban, who was known for constructing Federation-style homes on the north shore. The Goyens renovated and extended the abode, including the addition of a pool, according to approved DA plans.

Sandstone foundations remain and interiors feature polished floorboards, intricate archways, a modern white stone-finished kitchen, and patterned carpet in the bedrooms and study.

There are sun-drenched balconies and expansive lawns with views over Taylors Bay.

There is a wine cellar, sun-drenched balconies and expansive lawns that allow for stunning views over Taylors Bay towards Rose Bay and Shark Island.

The listing has been made months after a palatial Mosman home sold for about $50 million in October, making it both a suburb and north shore record. The six-bedroom, seven-bathroom, three-storey property was sold by the Balnaves philanthropic family just days before the estate officially went to market.

It sold towards the top end of the $45 million to $50 million guide, according to two sources with knowledge of the deal but not authorised to comment publicly. The exact sum and buyer’s identity will be revealed at settlement.

The Goyens have listed their house through Anthony Godson, Nick Gittoes and Amelia Andrews of McGrath Lower North Shore Mosman, who all declined to comment on the price guide when contacted by this masthead.

Millennial couple without a mortgage

Hugo Batten and Alice Frawley have emerged as the cash buyers of a $13.65 million architecturally designed, four-bedroom, four-bathroom home in Clovelly.

The Clovelly home was bought in cash.

Hugo, 41, is the managing director of Aurora Energy Research for the Asia-Pacific region, with a focus on market and grid modelling in power markets, according to the company website.

The Millennial couple have upgraded from their four-bedroom, one-bathroom terrace in Paddington that sold in December for $3.15 million.

A sold sticker went up on the Clovelly listing indicating a sale by private treaty on October 18, with the sale price undisclosed. It was left to settlement documents this week to reveal the price and buyers as Alexander Phillips and Thomas Fuller of PPD Real Estate were tight-lipped when contacted by this masthead.

The property last sold for $11.8 million in 2021 to Jamie Wiener and Sue-Lyn Ung, records show. Part of the bungalow home that was already on the site was maintained, and a stunning contemporary extension was designed by architect Mary Ellen Hudson. The build was completed in 2016.

Interiors have an industrial aesthetic with concrete, copper and reclaimed timber. There are Venetian plaster walls, curved lines, steel-framed doors, brass tapware and statement lighting.

The couple purchased the existing 1960s bungalow on the site for $2.15 million in 2015, records show, and it’s understood they spent four years designing, planning and constructing the new build before moving in in 2019. All that remains of the original house is the front wall to the street and the home’s name plate, local sources say.

The residence for sale is an architecturally designed four-bedroom, four-bathroom home with a garage that can accommodate more than nine cars with stacker integration.

Interiors include blackbutt timber floors, plush carpet, a spiral staircase with bespoke balustrade, a gym, wine cellar and lift.

Leisure options include multiple al fresco entertainment spaces, a pool, patio and barbecue area.
