Lefau gives Tigers a dream restart
By
Mykelti Lefau has booted his second goal after some tight pressure from him and Tom Lynch led to a holding-the-ball decision deep in their forward line.
Dees 65, Tigers 50 with 18 mins to go in Q3.
Kozzie’s class is the difference
By Sam McClure
The first half has panned out exactly as you might expect; Richmond’s energy has been tenacious but Melbourne are just a bit too classy with ball in hand.
That’s helped by the fact they have a bloke by the name of Kozzie.
This man is class. He’s had 12 disposals and kicked two goals (one an absolute gem with the outside of his right foot and in many ways has symbolised the difference between the two teams).
One of the few negatives for Demons fans is Jai Culley, who is out of the game after suffering a knee injury.
Opinion: Why video reviews are making our game worse
By David Barham
At last Friday night’s Geelong-Bulldogs game, yet another ball that sailed over the point post was referred to the AFL review centre.
Gerard Whateley could not contain his frustration in the commentary box. “Look where the goal umpire is, look where the boundary umpire is, just make your call!”
I, too, have been frustrated since the introduction of this technology. It came in soon after Tom Hawkins hit the post in the 2009 grand final, which we were broadcasting at Ten. It was ruled a goal, the deflection not picked up until later.
How would you like to be the umpire smashed on live TV and watched by hundreds of thousands of people last Friday night?
In my view, the simple reason umpires in that position don’t want to decide is because they’re scared of making a mistake.
Dees confirm that Culley is done for tonight

HT: Melbourne 10.5 (65) to Richmond 7.2 (44)

Kane McAuliffe has booted the first goal of his AFL career and it has come after the siren.
McAuliffe, who is in his 18th game, kicked from outside 50m and was mobbed by teammates.
The Deess were inspired by Kozzie Pickett’s burst late in the second term with his two goals in their five-straight majors.
The sad part of the Dees is that Jai Culley is off with a knee injury and from the way his teammates are consoling him, it appears that it could be an ACL injury.
Scans will confirm that later in the weekend I would imagine.
Pickett kicks his second goal
By
The Dees are on top right now with Pickett winning a free kick and booting his second goal.
They are finishing this second term in a flurry with Brody Mihocek marking and kicking a goal on the back of Pickett’s major.
This time Latrelle Pickett was the provider who kicked the ball long to the former Magpies forward.
Melbourne have kicked five straight goals.
Dees 65, Tigers 38 with 50 seconds to go in Q2.
Pickett shows his class
By
Kysaiah Pickett has come up with the footy and snapped a wonderful goal.
The Demons desperately needed that one.
“He’s impossible to tackle,” Jason Dunstall said on Fox Footy.
Dees 46, Tigers 38 with five mins to go in Q2.
Culley injures knee
By
Dees midfielder Jai Culley has gone down with a knee injury and has been helped from the ground.
The former West Coast player has been excellent for the Dees so far this season, but that incident didn’t look good as it appeared that his knee crumbled underneath him.
Dees 40, Tigers 38 with six mins to go in Q2.
Umpire forced off the ground
By
One of the boundary umpires has been injured and is leaving the ground. He was knocked over when the ball was kicked towards him, and he landed very awkwardly on his arm.
He was overheard on the umpire mic saying he couldn’t move his forearm.
The poor bloke was clearly in some pain and has left the ground with a replacement soon to come out.
