Jockey Tim Clark will be out to make an impact at Hawkesbury on Thursday where he has three solid rides on the nine-race card.
Clark will link with co-trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott when he partners No Woman No Cry in the Great Northern Cup Super Maiden Plate (1600m).
“No Woman No Cry has only had the one start at Newcastle and while he was down the track that event I think he can improve on Thursday,” Clark said.
“He’s had a number of trials before over a long period of time before his debut and there’s no doubt that he’ll be better for the race experience.”
Clark links with the Ron Quinton-trained first starter Unleash Harry in the Absolut & Sprite RTDS C,G&E Maiden Handicap (1100m).
“He’s a Harry Angel gelding on debut and he’s had two trials and ran well in the latest of them,” Clark said. “I’m sure Ronnie [Quinton] will have him primed to run well.”
The mount on the Nacim Dilmi-prepared Riga awaits in the Vodka Cruiser Cup Provincial Maiden Handicap (1300m).
Riga had been placed in a couple of starts on end before losing its rider at Gosford last time out when sent out as favourite.
“He’s a horse that has shown talent, and although he has a wide barrier to contend with, he looks well up to running a good race,” Clark said. “His two recent placings have been sound.”
Warwick Farm trainer Joseph Pride is hoping My Proclama can go on with the job in the Voodoo Ranger Cup Class 1 Handicap (1300m) after a last start victory at Kembla Grange.
My Proclama had been placed in her first five starts before breaking her maiden when ridden by Andrew Adkins. Dylan Gibbons takes over the ride on My Proclama at Hawkesbury.
Pride has one other runner at Hawkesbury, Moordyup – which lines up in the same race as No Woman No Cry, with Reece Jones booked for the ride.
