That’ll be all then.
Irankunda down
By
Moungam swoops in from behind as Irankunda races towards goal with nothing to stop him – except his opponent, who catches his heel and sends him reeling. Moungam is shown a yellow card. Irankunda takes his time to get back up. Once he does, he takes the ensuing free kick and goes for the goal from 30 metres. Epassy ensures Australia do not double the lead.

ICYMI: Another triple sub for Socceroos

Goal! Bos puts Australia ahead
By
Finally. After 85 minutes, we have a goal. It’s well deserved for Bos, who has been pushing all game and gets the reward at almost fulltime. Irankunda takes a settling touch first and feeds Okon. And when Okon puts in the pass it’s Hrustic who draws the lurking defender, leaving Bos free to pounce on the ball and bury it. Nothing Epassy can do about that one.

Irankunda shot saved!
By
It came out of nowhere. Hrustic turns in the middle and then Mabil releases Irankunda. Then it’s blink and you’ll miss it. It only takes a half-second for the Watford 20-year-old – who was not yet born for that historic 2005 Uruguay World Cup playoff – before his shot has left his boot and Epassy has saved it.
A minute or so later, Irankunda is through again though skews his effort wide.

Big Socceroos chance goes begging
By
Irankunda bursts down the right and delivers a strapping cross towards the back post. Circati’s head cushions it nicely forward to Burgess, who attempts to guide it into the net. But his own header lacks the pace. Tough on that trajectory, but it is probably the strongest opportunity aside from the penalty minutes earlier.

Hrustic’s spot kick is saved!
By
Wow, that’s some stop by Epassy. He stretched to his left. Hrustic had gone that way too. The effort could have been wider. It could have been harder. But you have to give it to Cameroon’s goalkeeper.

Penalty! Socceroos have a spot kick

Kamdem rushes in for a late challenge on O’Neill and, after a VAR review, the referee is convinced Australia’s appeals are correct.
